BC TEAL 2012 Annual Conference
To the more than 400 people who attended the 44th annual BC TEAL Conference, we thank you for your participation in this year’s event. We very much value your feedback, and request that you click here to provide us with your impressions and reviews of this year’s event.
BC TEAL is pleased to announce that the 2012 BC TEAL Conference will be held May 4th and 5th at Capilano University in North Vancouver, BC. The theme of the conference is “ESL: English as a Sustainable Language.”
We are delighted that our keynote speakers for the event will be Professor Andy Hargreaves, the Thomas More Brennan Chair in Education at Boston College and Luisa Maffi, Ph.D., the director and co-founder of Terralingua.

Dr. Gilberto Díaz Santos, the Dean of Foreign Languages at the Universidad de la Habana, Cuba has also been invited to speak on the theme of “sustainability”.

Discount Taxi Rates for Conference Attendees
Sunshine Cabs is offering a 20% discount to people going to the conference. The Sunshine Cab number is 604-988-8888. In order to be eligible for the discount, you will need to show your conference receipt or your conference name tag.
Parking Information at Capilano University
There is pay parking directly outside the Birch Building, where the conference will be held. Friday parking is $5.25 for the day. Saturday parking is $3.00 for the day. Click here for maps and directions.
Early Bird Registration extended to April 6th
Online registration is open. Please note that this year’s fees will include lunch for both days of the conference. Be sure to take advantage of the Early Bird prices before March 30th April 6th.
Employees of TEAL Institutional Members are eligible for a group discount – be sure to get the discount code from the TEAL contact at your institution.
Hotel Accommodations
Conference attendees who are coming from out-of-town might want to take advantage of special pricing on rooms at the North Vancouver Holiday Inn. Click here to reserve rates with the TEAL discount – the code is already loaded. Basic room (2 Queen beds) are available for $129 per night. The hotel has many amenities, including free parking and free Wi-Fi.

BC TEAL Travel Grants
Conference attendees from out of town (100 km outside Metro Vancouver) who carpool to the conference venue are eligible to apply for $100 travel grants. Contact the TEAL administrative manager at admin@bcteal.org for an application form.
