AIDS & Health Education Fund
The AIDS and Health Education Fund [AHEF] was established in 1992 to promote AIDS and health education through content-based English language instruction. The AIDS and Health Education Fund which was established by the TEAL Charitable Foundation with the financial support of TESOL.
Application Criteria for the AIDS and Health Fund
Applicants are encouraged to apply who are:
- teachers promoting AIDS prevention and health education instruction meeting the needs of ESL/EFL students, their family members and their communities;
- materials writers developing culturally sensitive AIDS and health education materials designed to meet the needs of and be available to a wide range of people;
- organizations willing to sponsor or co-sponsor activities dedicated to AIDS awareness or health education.
Applicants will be evaluated according to:
- the applicant’s personal/professional reasons and goals for promoting AIDS and health education;
- the applicant’s background and professional qualifications for carrying out the project;
- the degree of collaboration with organizations and agencies to advance these goals;
- the extent to which the information from the project will reach a wide range of people in the local community/province/country.
Amount of Fund
The AIDS and Health Education Fund is valued at up to $3,000 [CAD] per year and is payable on satisfactory completion of the project.
Application Deadline
The application deadline for the AIDS and Health Education Fund is November 1st of each year. Successful applicants will receive notification in writing within six weeks of the application deadline. Please note that only the recipient will be notified by the TEAL Charitable Foundation.
Application Procedure
An application for the AIDS and Health Education Fund must include:
- i] goals and rationale for the project or use of funds
- ii] a budget specifying anticipated expenses
- iii] a complete description of the project or use of funds with a timeline for completion
- iv] reference letters from related agencies or potential beneficiaries of the project or use of funds
- v] a review of research or a record of practical experience[s] to support the project or use of funds
Application Submission
Applicants are required to submit one completed application for the AIDS and Health Education Fund to:
