We hope you’ll join us for our 2019 Lower Mainland Regional Conference taking place at Lasalle College on Saturday, November 16th. This year’s theme is “Beyond Burnout: Resiliency in EAL”.
Plenary Speaker
We are very pleased to announce Dian Henderson as the plenary speaker.
Dian Henderson, senior lecturer and ESL Department Chair at Thompson Rivers University, has been an educator for 35 years, teaching in a variety of contexts from elementary to junior high, from working with immigrants to teaching in Asia and Latin America. Her commitment to authenticity and Appreciative Inquiry informs her teaching and leading.
Plenary Topic
Resilience is founded on the ways individuals respond to challenges and is a key component of adaptation, change, and growth. Resilience offers strength to walk through vulnerability with the willingness to seek solutions and to learn. The ability to persevere is where opportunity can be cultivated. This keynote explores resilience in an EAL environment from an experiential, social-constructionist point of view. It aims to uplift audiences through personal storytelling, interaction and reflection about the heart of resilience.
