The Event:

In this session, we will showcase a variety of online learning objects and activities for Stage 1 learners. We will demonstrate how to create and use videos, Moodle Books, H5P Fill-In-The-Blanks, Dialog Cards, and Dictation Activities to build engaging activities for CLB 1-4 learners. We will discuss insights into design and how to build for different devices and levels. Instruction tip sheets and video links will be provided.

The Presenters:

Simone Roosen is an Instructional Developer, PBLA Lead Teacher, and LINC instructor at MOSAIC. She has taught LINC learners in various levels since 2013. Most recently, Simone worked as a developer, creating materials to support learners in simplified English with digital literacy, for an IRCC-funded digital literacy project “Learn to use Technology” available on MOSAIC’s website.

Astrid van der Pol is a Lead Learning Developer at MOSAIC. She is working on an MEd in TESOL at UBC. She has worked in the LINC program since 2008.
Astrid presented on e-learning instructional design for literacy and lower-level learners and e-learning best practices at BC TEAL in 2022. She presented on grammar to expand communication at TESL Ontario in 2021.
