Professor Brian Leacock is the Associate Director of the Gustavson School of Business at the University of Victoria. As part of the UVic Speakers Bureau, Brian travels around BC sharing his knowledge and expertise on Emotional Intelligence (EQ). Understanding the unique position EAL professionals are in, Brian is going to speak about Emotional Intelligence and Academic Success, coupled with Emotional Intelligence and Cultural Diversity. Using well-established emotional intelligence measurement tools, participants will learn how EQ impacts social, academic and cultural aspects of themselves and their students.
Brian Leacock is a teaching professor of cross cultural management and organizational behaviour at the Gustavson School of Business in Victoria, Canada. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses to diverse student groups and brings a global/interdisciplinary orientation to the classroom. He places special attention on understanding and navigating our globalized world. His current focus of scholarly inquiry is on intercultural competency development (conceptualization, assessment, and pedagogical innovation/training) for leadership in a globalized and integrated world. He also holds the title of Associate Director of International Programs. This leadership role is focused on the internationalization of the school of business across four degree programs (BCom, MBA, MGB and PhD) – including the management of 100+ academic partnerships worldwide.
