Date: Friday, February 28, 2020
Time: 10:30 am to 12:30 pm

In these Self-Studies monthly sessions, instructors and administrators are invited to join conversations in teaching and learning. The facilitation of these sessions is peer-led and have a different monthly focus in keeping with the mission and vision of SIETAR BC and BC TEAL. After 5 very interactive and successful sessions in 2019, we are back with 4 more iterations in the series, covering a wider array of topics you asked for! Presenting to you, self studies Series session 6, 7, 8 and 9.

These sessions are hosted by Vancouver Community College through the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee, and are free for SIETAR BC Members, BC TEAL Members, and VCC employees. All sessions will be in room A3500 and light refreshments will be provided.

This session, led by Jennifer Cummins, will focus on Anti-Racism Practices in Curriculum Design. Jennifer is an English as an Additional Language Instructor at Vancouver Community College. Inspired by the book “Antiracist Writing Assessment Ecologies: Teaching and Assessing Writing for a Socially Just Future” by Asao B. Inoue, this session will focus on a discussion around anti-racist and anti-discriminatory practices in language assessments.
