Joe first began teaching in the 1990s in Japan and has been in the field for over 20 years. Since 2003, he has been teaching at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops where he teaches in the EAP and the TESL programs. His main research interests include educational technology, teacher education and intercultural communication. Some of his service to the profession in past has included chairing two BC TEAL interior conferences at TRU in 2008 and 2009 respectively, and co-chairing the TESL Canada 2012 conference. In his free time, Joe is an outdoor sports enthusiast and loves skiing, cycling, hiking and various oxygen powered sports.
