2015 Vancouver Island Regional Conference at Global Village Victoria

The 2015 BC TEAL Vancouver Island Regional Conference is coming up on Saturday, February 21st, 2015 at Global Village in Victoria, BC!

Registration for the conference is available online until Wednesday, February 18th at 9:30 am.  On-site registration will be available the day of the conference.

Following on the theme of the conference “Engaging with our Profession”, and working from the premise that engaged teachers will be more likely to engage their learners, plenary speaker Karen Densky will address the questions of “What leads us to become engaged in our profession?” and “How can we maintain engagement throughout our careers?” These questions will be explored through personal narratives, current literature on teacher engagement, her research on identity and teacher development, and group participation.

Karen Densky is in her 25th year as an EAL instructor and has been teaching in TESL programs for 15 years.  She is currently a Senior Lecturer at Thompson Rivers University.  Karen is in the final stage of completing a PhD in Curriculum Theory at Simon Fraser University.  Her research interests are in the areas of creativity and language learning and teacher education.  She has been involved with BC TEAL for several years and co-chaired the 2012 TESL Canada Conference.

We look forward to welcoming you to this exciting event!
