BC TEAL 2016 Annual Conference

Join us for BC TEAL’s 48th Annual Conference at Simon Fraser University’s Surrey Campus. We are very pleased to be co-hosting this event with SFU’s Centre for English Language Learning, Teaching and Research (CELLTR).

Online registration is closed. Please register on-site at SFU Friday and Saturday morning.

Theme

 

Building Community

We will be using the BC theme throughout the conference including the tagline “We are BC” and the hashtag #WeAreBC16.


Pre-Conference Institute (PCI)

New this year to the conference will be a Pre-Conference Institute held on Thursday, April 28th. These sessions will be 2-3 hours in length, with offerings in the morning, afternoon, and evening. These longer workshops will give participants the opportunity to explore areas of interest in more depth.

Registration & Costs: morning/afternoon sessions – $40/$55, evening session – $30/$45.


Plenary and Keynote Speakers

We will be joined by exceptional, internationally renowned speakers: Shelly Sanchez Terrell

Shelly Sanchez Terrell

    • Lindsay Clandfield is an award-winning writer, teacher, teacher trainer and international speaker in the field of English language teaching. He has written more than ten coursebooks for language learners and is the co-author of various methodology books for teachers.

Laurel Pollard

    • Laurel Pollard is a widely known and highly respected international teacher educator and author. She works with teachers in a wide variety of settings, including public schools, adult education, English as a Second Language, English as a Foreign Language, literacy, and teaching foreign languages in English-speaking countries.

Join us for networking and entertainment. This event is free, but please be sure to RSVP with your registration.

18.30-20.30 Central City Brew Pub Celebration Dinner

Limited tickets are available to join the plenary speakers and other members of the BC TEAL community. The cost is $60 for a 3-course meal, including 1 drink and gratuity.

Friday Night Dinner

For the 2nd year in a row, we have limited tickets available for the Friday night dinner. Join the keynote speakers and other members of the BC TEAL community for a celebratory dinner at Central City Surrey Brew Pub following the Wine & Cheese event. Dinner tickets are $60 each and can be purchased at the time of conference registration. The ticket includes a 3-course meal (incl. vegetarian and gluten-free options), one drink, and gratuity.
