EAL Week – LINC Open Space

Tuesday, November 21 | Douglas College | 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm

What is Open Space?
Open Space is a flexible, participant-led session which gives you the chance not only to share ideas on topics most relevant to your current contexts, but to also learn a new, transferable, scalable approach for use in other areas of your professional lives. In small-group settings you will first identify issues you wish to discuss, and then by brief group summaries and consensus, these topics are narrowed down and new groups are formed so that the conversations evolve and develop.

Date: Tuesday, November 21, 2017
Location: Douglas College New Westminster Campus, Room 1808
Time: 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm
Cost: Free

RSVP for the LINC Open Space

Light snacks will be provided – open to administrators and instructors!

It is hoped you will leave with a deeper understanding of the issues you and your peers are wrestling with at the moment, and some ideas and research topics to help.

There will also be time to discuss and evaluate the concept of the Open Space itself and how it may be adapted or applied in your own contexts in professional development, or indeed in the classroom.

Because of the nature of this session, participants are requested to stay throughout, and to be prepared to share your experiences, questions, and opinions.

Two rules: Only two rules in place – first of all, no single person should dominate the discussion, and secondly the ‘rule of two feet’. That means if you had a change of mind or were not happy with the direction the discussion was going, you could simply excuse yourself from the group and walk up to another one.
